If there was ever a "power couple" list in the horse industry, the
Weakly's of Shelbyville, Illinois would definitely be at the top of the
list. Amateur exhibitors, Kaleena and Josh Weakly, just returned from
the Congress with 11 trophies including Grand Champion Amateur Mares,
Grand Champion Open and Amateur Geldings, Amateur Showmanship and
overall Versatility Champion and now they're headed to the AQHA World Show in Oklahoma City.
Find out what's happening at the APHA World Show through GoHorseShow's guest reporter Austin Gooding of Fennville, Michigan. Everyone has just moved in and the World Show has just gotten underway. Austin did such a good job reporting for us during the Paint Youth World that we asked him to report for us again at the Open and Amateur fall world show. Find out who won some of the classes, important news from the show, and any fun events that occurred through the eyes of Austin. It is rare for a young man to report in a female dominated sport, and we appreciate him breaking the gender barrier and giving us a different perspective.
In 2001, Kid Clu, one of the greatest halter horses in AQHA
history, passed away. Horses cannot come back from the dead, but thanks to
modern science and a little forward thinking, Kid Clu’s impact on the halter
world has not come to an end. In
what’s being billed as “The Return of Kid Clu,” the public is now able to
purchase frozen semen and breed their mares to this famous stallion that died
at the young age of 13 over 10 years ago.
A unanimous world title in Amateur Aged Geldings gives Robin Robinett her second title of the day. With a look of focus matched by her horse, Robin Robinett led Mister Redesigned into the Amateur Aged Geldings class and emerged a unanimous world champion.
Amateur Darcy Reeve and A Certain Vino have enjoyed success beyond
measure and their list of accomplishments is awe-inspiring. At this
year's Congress, Vino won the Non-Pro Western Pleasure Maturity and
Amateur Western Pleasure with Darcy, and Senior Western Pleasure and
Open Western Pleasure Maturity with Karen Hornick.
The Congress has just ended and now it's time to focus everyone's
attention on the 2011 AQHA and APHA World Championship Shows. The
November issue of GoMag features some of the very best horses, trainers
and businesses in the industry. We are particularly happy to include several teams who did exceptionally well at the Congress.
UPDATE: Congrats on Robin Robinett on being the unanimous winner in Amateur Aged Geldings with Mister Redesigned and winning the Amateur 2 Year-Old Gelding with, This Kids Classic!----After being married close to three years, Larry Morse and Robin Robinett, may be still considered newlyweds, but they have been dominating the paint halter world for quite some time---this year is no different.
The 2011 All-American Quarter Horse Congress has come to an end but GoHorseShow.com has Kruzer Candids
to remember this year's show for many years to come. We would like to
give a special thanks to the fabulous equine photographer, Mallory
Beinborn of LaCrosse, Wisconsin for the fantastic candids.
I can’t help but wonder when breeder Libby Trucco named the handsome
2009 colt, Historyrepeatsitself, that she had a premonition about his
already illustrious career. Sired by Libby’s stallion, Repeated in Red,
and out of a daughter of Dynamic Deluxe, “Abe’s” registered name had
tremendous significance for his trainer and rider, Brian Cox.
Allocate Your Assets would like to congratulate all of his foals and their owners on their incredible success at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, held in Columbus, Ohio, October 7-30. Al not only sired his first Congress Champion, during the 2011 show, but he also ended up siring five Congress Champions.
GoHorseShow.com is happy to report that the great mare, Only Yours, has been purchased by Bill Cosentino for one of his twin daughters, Beth, to show in her last year of youth. Only Yours just had back-to-back wins at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in the NYATT and 15-18 Western Pleasure with Ryan Small.
GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Twylla Brown of Perry, Missouri
on the purchase of Mostly Chocolate (Chucky) from youth exhibitor, Katie Jo Jones. Chucky
will not need to move barns as the new team will be showing in the
Select Amateur events under the guidance Kendra Weis and her son Blake
of Moberly, Missouri.
As an Amateur Exhibitor, Kirsten Farris had first hand experience when it came to submitting horse show entries. Tired of handwriting forms with redundant information, she searched for an online entry system for Quarter Horse shows, and realized that one did not exist. With a background in technology, she created QHShowentries.com specifically for American Quarter Horse Association Shows.
