UPDATE: The Morse Family: Heading to the Paint World

UPDATE: UPDATE: Congrats on Robin Robinett on being the unanimous winner in Amateur Aged Geldings with Mister Redesigned and winning the Amateur 2 Year-Old Gelding with, This Kids Classic!-

————————————————-

After being married close to three years, Larry Morse and Robin Robinett, may be still considered newlyweds, but they have been dominating the paint halter world for quite some time—this year is no different. The Morse’s have had over 30 World and Reserve World Champion Paint and Pinto halter horses to their name.

The Brazil, Indiana couple has also crossed over and started to show more on the AQHA show circuit to great success. Just last month, they showed for the first time at the All American Quarter Horse Congress and won the Limited Open and Limited Amateur Weanling Colts class with Kiddin A Mister. All of their halter horses (with the exception of one with Jason Smith) are prepared by Mitchell Show Horses located in Pilot Point, Texas.

With their recent success at the Congress now over, they are now heading to the Paint World in Fort Worth, Texas. The couple has quite a line-up for the show. Robin Robinett will be showing the majority of the horses in the Amateur while JT Mitchell will be showing them in the Open. TR Special Forces will be showing in the Two Year-Old Open and Amateur Stallions; In the Marquis Lights will be showing in the Gold, Yearling Slot, Amateur Yearlings and Open Yearling Mares; Mister Redesigned in Amateur and Open Aged Geldings; Well Executed in the Gold, Platinum, and Open Weanling Stallions; Built Execute Tuff will be presented in the Gold, Platinum, Weanling Stallions, and Weanling Stallions Slot; TR Ellusive Ellie will be showing in the Amateur and Open Weanling Solid Paint Bred Fillies; and Jason Smith will be showing, This Kids Classic, in the Two Year-Old Geldings and Robin will be showing him in the amateur class.

“Larry and Robin have really mastered the art of investing their money in the right prospect and turning around and selling them,” Mitchell, their trainer tells GoHorseShow at the Congress. “They have a good eye, and they help keep the halter economy flowing because they don’t hold onto their horses for too long. They like the challenge of finding propects, winning with them and then selling them to new owners–so the new owners can go on and win.”

The Morse’s say that they enjoy showing with JT and Katie Mitchell because of their knowledge and expertise. One fun fact is that both couples were married at the same chapel in Las Vegas, The Little Church of the West.

“We have been friends with them for six years, but we wanted to diversify and start showing both quarters and paints. It is helpful that they show both circuits, so we moved all of our horses to their barn,” Larry Morse explains. “It really is a team effort, and I completely trust them in buying some of the prospects sight unseen. The weanling colt that Robin showed at the Congress and won with—we never set eyes on him in person until we came to the Congress to show. So, we both respect each other’s opinions and work together to find the best halter prospects in the industry.”

Larry and Robin mention that they love the camaraderie and friends that they have made showing horses. “We are always on the road showing, and we love it,” Robin says. “We love all aspects of the horse industry, and I think the halter industry is recovering as shown by the success of the WCHA and the Breeder’s Futurity in Des Moines, Iowa–this is a positive step in the right direction.”

Robin adds, “Since Larry and I don’t have kids together, I consider all our horses, my kids, and I just love showing horses-there really is nothing like it. I have a very competitive drive within me.”

Morse who owns a freight broker company, Western Indiana Enterprises, is also involved with race horses and currently has five horses running on the racetracks. “We love the gamble of trying to find winners and the adrenaline rush of watching all types of horses in the show arena and racetrack. When we quit having fun, we will stop showing–but I seriously doubt that would ever happen in our lifetime,” he says.

GoHorseShow wishes The Morse’s and Mitchell’s good luck this coming week at the APHA World Show! If you would like more information regarding horses they are showing or that they have for sale, please visit their website at www.morsepainthorses.com.
