Meghan Tierney’s NSBA World Champion Enticed Sells to Deeds Family

Congratulations to Meghan Tierney on selling her two-year-old stallion, Enticed to the Deeds Family. Enticed is by Its A Southern Thing and out of Pretty Assets.

GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Gretchen Deeds of Lowell, Michigan, on the purchase of 2020 NSBA World Champion, Enticed.

“Enticed is an exceptional horse,” former owner Meghan Tierney told us. “He is a two-year-old stallion by Its A Southern Thing, out of my great mare, Pretty Assets. It’s pretty rare for a young horse to be so well received by everyone in our industry. I couldn’t walk ten steps at any horse show without someone stopping me and complimenting him. The abundance of positive feedback from so many of my respected peers and people I look up to has solidified Amy’s (Gumz), and my high expectations of this cross.”

Before selling “Vance”, Tierney had the chance to show him at two shows; Centre Hall, where they won the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle circuit out of 30, and at the NSBA World Show, where they won both the Limited and Non-Pro Two-Year-Old  Hunter Under Saddle.

“Not many two-year-olds, let alone stallions, can perform this well in the non-pro classes, open classes, the amateur, and the green – having wins and circuit championships in every division,” Meghan proudly told us. “He is impressive. I wish all the best of luck to the new owner, Gretchen Deeds. I have no doubt he will continue to succeed in both showing and producing.”

Last November, trainers Dwayne and Amber Pickard were chosen to train this talented colt. “I was so excited, but nervous,” Amber says about getting Vance. “He already had so much hype after Amy (Gumz) had just posted a picture of him on Facebook. Then, she posted a video of him in December with just a handful of rides. Dwayne’s and my jaws dropped; we could not wait to pick him up. He had everything it took to be an amazing young all-star, starting with a great sire and dam, the strength, the mind, self-carriage, and the beauty.”

Amy Gumz, owner of Its A Southern Thing, Enticed’s sire, adds, “I’m super excited that he will stay under the guidance of Dwayne and Amber Pickard. This was a special colt from day one. He has it all, and with such a great attitude, I’m sure the sky’s the limit for him.”

The Deeds Family is very excited about the opportunity to acquire Enticed. “We have been looking for a pro-level horse for our talented daughter (Lauren), and Vance is all we could imagine. He is a beautiful mover, has a great mind, and presents with an air of elegance. The cross between Its A Southern Thing and Pretty Assets produced an amazing result.”

Gretchen Deeds tells us that one challenge for them is to decide whether to keep him a stallion. “At this time, we plan on continuing to show him through next year as a stallion with Amber in the Open 3’s and Lauren in the Non-Pro 3’s at the NSBA events. After that, we will try to make the best decision on whether to continue his stallion career, or move to show him in the youth events. It will be an exciting year. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen.”
