New Classes Approved for AQHA Regional Championship Shows

Look for new classes and class line-ups at your upcoming AQHA Regional Championship Show.

Show management may now offer a pointed AQHA show in conjunction with the Regional Championship and use the same judges for both events.

“We’ve seen a lot of success at the Regional Championship shows that also offer a pointed show,” said AQHA Senior Director of Shows Charlie Hemphill. “With that in mind, the AQHA Show Council and AQHA Executive Committee saw value in allowing the same judges to preside over the Regional Championship and pointed show so that the classes may be run concurrently.

“Concurrent classes are beneficial to the welfare of the American Quarter Horses competing, and it should also shorten the length of shows and keep expenses in line,” Hemphill added.

Additionally, Regional Championship shows may offer walk/jog or walk/trot horsemanship and hunt seat equitation classes; an exhibitor may not cross-enter the corresponding class at the lope/canter.

“Regional Championships are great grounds for exhibitors to dive into higher-level shows,” Hemphill said. “We want every AQHA member to experience the thrill of competing at a championship show, and offering walk/jog and walk/jog horsemanship and hunt seat equitation classes at the Regional Championships is yet another means to accomplish this.”
