Kristen Galyean Addresses Sale of Vital Signs Are Good

Typically when a famous horse sells, it is often a stud who most likely does not have a deep and emotional connection with its owner, or at least the type of bond that Kristen Galyean had with Vital Signs Are Good over the past seven years. In the wake of one of the biggest horse sales in recent time of one of the greatest horses ever, many emotions are involved on both the buying and selling side. For the Moran Family (Joe, Karen, Theresa, Kelly and Shelby), this is undoubtedly an extremely happy time. Kristen took time to reflect on the array of emotions she is going through. As she explains to GoHorseShow.com, her heart is filled with both sadness and joy.

“The GoHorseShow.com story on Lucy was so awesome. Thanks for setting all the rumors straight. It is by far and away the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, because Lucy is like my family. We’ve been together so long we knew each other’s every move. I will miss her so much, but I know she will be as special to Theresa as she is to me and I will be their biggest fan.

I was planning on retiring her after the World Show because she and I together had nothing left to prove, but I know there is a lot of horse still left that would just sit in my pasture.  So, I’m excited that she has the opportunity to go on and win with Highpoint. I know they will take excellent care of her and love her as much as I do.

She is her happiest in the middle of the show pen. She knows when those arena lights hit her, it’s time to shine. She loves the attention, and loves to show so I know she will love her new home, but she will be missed. I will continue to show her babies, and will visit her all the time. And even though she has new owners, she and I will never forget the time we spent together, she was a ride of a lifetime.

I would have never sold her if it weren’t to a terrific home and if I thought she was tired of showing. But I know that she still loves her job and I’ve worked hard to keep it fun for her for all these years and I know they will do the same. I also know that Charlie and Jason will take great care of her.  So yes, I’m very sad and when I walk in my barn and see her stall front empty, I breakdown, but at the end of the day I know she is happy.

It’s going to be extremely hard to see her at the World show and I’m sure everyone will see me cry, but it’s a good cry. It’s just hard to let go of something I love so much.”
