GoHorseShow would like to congratulate the all-around winners from the 51st All-American Quarter Horse Congress. We talked to three of the winners including owner, Rebekah Kazakevicious whose horse, Not Just Anyhoo (Horton) won the Open All-Around. Horton was the Congress Champion in the Junior Hunter Hack with Ryan Painter, Junior Hunter Under Saddle with Rebekah, and was Reserve Champion in Junior Pleasure Driving with Charlie Cole.
“Next year hopefully he will also compete in the working hunter, and one of our future goals with him is to run for the Super Horse at the AQHA World Show,” Rebekah told us. Horton was also Congress Champion in Amateur Hunter Under Saddle for the third year in a row and the Limited Open Maturity Hunter Under Saddle Champion with Rebekah.
“He’s special because he continues to succeed at new events, while also continuing to do well in the hunter under saddle classes,” Kazakevicious says.
Youth, Ellexxah Maxwell also shared her thoughts about winning the 15-18 Youth All Around. “It is an honor to be named an all-around winner at the Congress. The level of excellence exhibited in any age group is not one that is easy. I’d just like to thank my family, Brent, Melissa, Becky, all of my friends, and, of course, my wonderful horse, Annie. As they say, it takes a village. Thanks to everyone involved in this win.”
Brooke Ingstad, who won the Level 1 Amateur All-Around with HP Ima Foxy Dreamer, was able to achieve this goal by winning the L1 Amateur Equitation, Reserve in the L1 Amateur Horsemanship, and was third in the L1 Amateur Showmanship. “My goal for the 2017 Congress was to show up and ride my horse to the best of my abilities – the rest of it was in the judges’ hands. Of course, I wanted to do well, but truly the outcome has been something I will never forget.”
Ingstad continues, “Since the Arizona Sun Circuit in March, this horse and I have been learning the all around events together, and it’s just crazy how far we have come. He hadn’t been shown in any of these events or even been in a hunt seat saddle, and he took to it all so naturally – that is what I love about this horse. My trainer, Brett Clark, has worked so hard and truly is the best trainer ever. Without him, none of this would have been possible. He’s been training me since I was just a little girl, so he is basically family. I am so grateful for everything he’s done for me and this horse.”
