About the Cover

How Bout This Cowboy, affectionately known as Lincoln, is featured on the cover of the January 2016 issue of GoMag. The nine year-old sorrel stallion by Dont Skip Zip and out of Ms Jackie Krymsun, was the 2009 AQHA Reserve World Champion in the Two Year-Old Western Pleasure. Lincoln’s offspring followed in his footsteps when his son, How Bout At Midnight was named 2014 AQHA World Champion in the same class.

howboutthiscowboy_square“Lincoln has an exceptional temperament and build. We wanted him as our next breeding stud because he is an old style western sire,” says Fritz Leeman, who also owns, Willy Be Invited, Lazy Loper and Invitation Only. “He has thick bones and a lot of substance to his body. We like raising sound and sane quarter horses and Lincoln is able to stamp them all this way.”

Leeman says that he crosses well on a variety of different mares including mares by Zippos Mr Goodbar, Willy Be Invited, Certain Potential and RL Best Of Sudden.

“He calms mares with a hot temperament and he creates strong two year-olds. He also has a few promising all-arounders already started in his first few crops,” Leeman states. “His babies are very trainable and he is passing on a lot of his natural intelligence.”

Lincoln is a very kind stallion. According to Leeman, “His favorite treats are apples but they have to be cut into eighths. He’s a gentle giant and his babies have personalities that mirror his. He’s a very sweet animal.”

Breeding manager Debbi Trubee states, “I have been really impressed with the quality of babies Lincoln is siring. They are really good movers and super pretty to go with it.”

Leeman adds, “Now that we’ve got his first few foal crops out and we like what we see, we’re going to push his breeding. We’re hoping that more people will get a hold of his foals and start to show them.”

How About This Cowboy’s breeding fee is $1500, and he will stand at Leeman Farm in Massillon, Ohio for the 2016 breeding season. For more information, please contact Debbi Trubee at 740-815-3545 or [email protected].
