Jenna Dempze’s Picture of the Day from AQHA World Championship Show

Hi, I’m Jenna Dempze from Wisconsin. I compete in western pleasure events under the guidance of Gil Galyean Quarter Horses. I’m here at the 2015 AQHA World Show with my horse, Rewind And Repeat. “ReRun” is competing in the Junior Western Pleasure with Gil Galyean and the Amateur Western Pleasure with myself.  We have had a very successful 2015 and are excited to see what the next week holds for us. Good luck to all the exhibitors this week and remember to enjoy the ride!

Final POTD, Saturday, November 21, 2015

My final picture of the day is my niece, Victoria, meeting a horse for the first time! My sister and my niece traveled from Wisconsin to watch me show. With that, my 2015 show season has come to an end, we have had an amazing year and I’m thankful for the opportunity to show great horses! I’m looking forward to the up coming holidays and spending time with my family and friends! My horses are getting a well deserved vacation too! Safe travels to everyone and we’ll see you down the road!!

This look by Jax Weakly, the son of Kaleena and Josh Weakly is priceless. Jax will be two in January but he has already gotten down the, “heck ya of course, we won look” down pat. In reality, Jax was frustrated because he couldn’t carry the heavy gold globe that his father’s horse, Legacee won in the Open Yearling Geldings with Ross Roark on Friday. The family was in the picture line and they told him to go get the trophy but he couldn’t pick it up.  He was making all these grunting noises and making all these funny expressions. Everyone around us was laughing hysterically at him. Despite his frustration, there is no doubt that he will have plenty of practice picking up trophies being the son of Kaleena and Josh. It also won’t be too long before we will see him winning and picking up his own trophy in a few years!

Today’s picture of the day is with Elizabeth (Borders) Combs, who was just crowned the 2015 AQHA World Champion in Amateur Horsemanship. She hasn’t shown here in five years but came back with a bang! Known to most as “EB”, she was the big winner today in this challenging class. Recently, Borders moved to Colorado with her husband and started training with Kelly McDowall. EB showed her mom’s horse, Lets Be Radical. Her future plans are to begin showing her younger project horse and let her mom take back the reins to her borrowed World Champion partner. For those that may not know her, EB is a former AQHYA World Champion in the Showmanship and multiple Reserve World Champion in the Horsemanship. I would like to congratulate her on a great comeback!

henryMy other photo of the day goes to RPL My Te Cheerful better known as “Henry” and trainer Joe Engle’s daughter, Scarlet Engle. Henry was the unanimous AQHA World Champion Aged Gelding with Ross Roark. Two year-old Scarlet and Henry the gentle giant have a very special relationship. On Facebook, there are photos and videos of the two together that are absolutely adorable. There is no doubt that Henry loves her to pieces as she led him out of the arena with owner Vern Habighorst. This was Henry’s 22nd AQHA World Championship! (pictured right after his win with Scarlet)

Here is my picture of the day for Wednesday. This is the quarter horse statue that is in front of the Jim Norick Arena. I’ve been coming to the OKC fairgrounds for many years and have driven by this statue, but I’ve never taken the time to read the plaques. It was a gift to the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds to celebrate the state’s centennial anniversary. They chose the “world champion” quarter horse because of the great influence and role the quarter horse has played in Oklahoma’s history. AQHA is also celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

My picture of the day is this cool camper/horse hauler by Voltage. There are a couple of these 5th wheel campers on display here at the World Show and I think they are the coolest deal. This might be as close to having my horse in my house as I can get. They hold two horses and the price tag comes in at over $100,000. It is a toy hauler camper with the back part converted to horse stalls. You can also add the horse stall partitions to your own toy hauler. So cool!

Pic of the day are my friends and and horse show family, Candice Hall and Cory Seebach with their stallion, Machine Made. Candice had a great go in the Amateur Western Riding today and made the finals on Wednesday with a score of a 221.5. This has been quite the journey for Candice, a small animal veterinarian on Vancouver Island, in BC, Canada. From the moment she first saw the stunning bay stud, Machine Made in 2010, “It has been a whirlwind,” Candice reveals. “There are just no words to express how fun and exciting it is to be riding Hershel and his babies. It’s just all so unbelievable–really a dream come true!” Good luck team MM!

Today’s picture of the day is of the newly crowned AQHA Superhorse, Snap Krackle Pop and her very proud owners, Twylla and Ed Brown, and trainer, Blake Weis. Brandi, who is by RL Best Of Sudden, won two AQHA World Championships in the Junior Western Riding and Trail as well as 8th in Junior Western Pleasure and 10th in Performance Halter Mares.

“She is just the sweetest, very smart, loves treats and always wants to please you. Her favorite thing to do is take a nap,” said Twylla.

Brandi’s trainer, Blake Weis adds, “She has so much heart and gives her best all the time, but probably my favorite thing about her is how easy going she is. Brandi always wants to be doing something. She would rather be working than sitting in the stall. She may be the smartest horse I’ve ever met and she is very sure of herself.”

The award is especially sweet as Twylla started riding with Blake’s mom, Kendra, 20 years ago. Congratulations to all involved with this special mare!

ReRun and Gil were named AQHA Reserve World Champion in the Junior Western Pleasure today! This is the second time they have been reserve, and I think it was a great way for him to end his junior horse career. I’m looking forward to showing in the Amateur Western Pleasure on Wednesday. This pic is of my dad and me with Rerun and his silver hardware. My dad is very proud of our horse!
