The World Championship Appaloosa Show is underway at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas, and NSBA members are earning hardware along with world championship titles this week. The Way To Go caught up with some of today’s winners.

The five year old gelding is by Hot Chocolatey Chip and out of Shes Radical (by Radical Rodder) and owned by Janis and Jordan Semmelmayer. “We’ve owned him since he was two,” Jordan Semmelmayer said. “He’s pretty special. He’s really a once in a lifetime horse, and the past couple of weeks have been very exciting for us.
“Our go today was really good,” she continued. “It’s probably one of the best rides I’ve ever had on him.” The gelding, known as Tex, will show with RJ King in Junior Western Pleasure and with Semmelmayer in the Non-Pro Western Pleasure Sweepstakes later in the week.

NSBA Yearling Sale Graduate Wins Two Year Old Snaffle Bit Hunter Under Saddle
Dale Sullens was in the irons on William Grant to win the ApHC and NSBA world titles in Two Year Old Snaffle Bit Hunter Under Saddle for owner Sid Karr.
“He’s always had such presence, even when we bought him as a weanling,” Sullens said. “He commands your attention.”
William Grant is a graduate of the 2014 NSBA Kaplow Insurance Breeders Incentive Fund Yearling Sale. The horse placed third in the BCF Two Year Old Color Hunter Under Saddle at the 2015 NSBA World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity with Sullens showing.
“He’s had a great World Show. So far he’s won the Non-Pro In-Hand Hunter, won the ApHC World Show Two Year Old Sale Incentive class, and was third in the Three and Under Hunter Under Saddle, in addition to this win.”
Sullens had won the world champion ApHC and NSBA titles earlier in the week in Open Green Hunter and Open Senior Hunter Hack with Hes Got Smooth Hands, and the reserve title in Open Green Hunter with Designed By Lad.
Jones Repeats with Play It Again Hunter in Senior Hunter Under Saddle
Jesse Jones was a back-to-back NSBA and ApHC world champion in Senior Hunter Under Saddle Thursday with Play It Again Hunter, showing for owner Katie Shepherd. The duo won the same class in 2014.
“This was his only class at the World Show,” Jones said. “Since his owner is a Youth, and they don’t have Youth classes at the World Show, he’s done showing here.”
The ten year old gelding is by The Hunter and out of Texas Tough, and is known as T-Bone. “I think the judges really liked his movement,” Jones said. “He can be a little bit tricky. He can be kind of moody, but when he’s on, he’s amazing to ride.”
Earlier in the week, Jones was also a world and NSBA champion on Handsoffmyartifacts, winning Open Junior Hunter Under Saddle, and Handsoffmyartifacts also won the world and NSBA champion awards in Non-Pro Hunter Under Saddle with owner Megan Wagner.
Other Hunter Under Saddle champions included Katy Jo Zuidema and Powered By Diesel, winning the Appaloosa Pleasure Horse Assocation’s Open Three Year Old and Under Hunter Under Saddle Maturity as well as NSBA and ApHC Open Three Year Old Snaffle Bit Hunter Under Saddle.
