Our industry is full of many types of people with diverse backgrounds who all share one thing, a love of horses. But there is so much more than meets the eye to many of these people. We asked multiple AQHA World Champion winner Darcy Reeve from Kansas to list the Top 10 things she loves and hates. Darcy and her horses, A Certain Vino and Ima Petite Classic have been dominating the show circuit in the western pleasure and western riding the past several years.
10 Things I Love
1. Reading and Movies–I put these two together because every night I crawl into bed and either watch a movie, or read. Same with long trips, or lazy days.
2. Makeup–It’s an art. I love playing with looks, new products, and other people’s looks.
3. Supernatural & Will and Grace Reruns- My two favorite TV Shows!
4. Accomplishing Something–winning is, of course, something I love, but it’s not everything to me. I LOVE the feeling of putting hard work into something and being rewarded for it. This is why some of my favorite horse show moments aren’t technically wins, but they’re wins to me.
5. Kansas State University–Manhattan, the Campus, the atmosphere, the basketball games, and of course KSU Football and Bill Snyder… Fear the Family!
6. Drawing/doodling–I am no where near talented with a pen and paper, but I have so many sketchbooks, and class notes FILLED with doodles.
7. Vino and Kramer- Obviously! and DON’T ask me to pick a favorite!
8. Sleeping- If you know me, you know I am a terrible sleeper, but when it comes, it’s a magical thing!
9. Fun night with friends–school friends, horse show friends, and friends from home–it never fails to be a good time.
10. Christmas–the season is just magical.
10 Things I Hate
1. Gum–It’s disgusting. I don’t want to see it, smell it or have it ANYWHERE near me!
2. Waking up early–like I said, I love to sleep and mornings are when my best sleep happens. However, as much as I despise waking up, I love morning activities.
3. Haters/Drama- Can’t we all just get along?
4. University of Kansas Basketball- I respect the talent, but they get so much handed to them, and their fans can be so annoying and whiney!
5. iPhone Screens–It never fails… I shatter them every time
6. Waiting–Waiting in lines, Waiting for packages, but the worst is waiting for a movie to come out for me to rent!
7. Fake people/ Braggers/ Liars–The three go hand in hand. Don’t be someone you’re not, don’t try to make people jealous of what you have, and be truthful!
8. Shots/needles–It’s not so much the pain of the needles, but more of the fact that I ALWAYS pass out after. (I know a couple of you have seen this first hand!)
9. Mary Poppins–That one movie that EVERY teacher made you watch in school, and every time I grew to hate it more and more. I even wrote an entire report on how much that movie bothers me one year when we had to write a paper after watching it.
10. Car Maintenance–Filling up with gas, Changing the oil, Washing it… I don’t want to spend any of my time or money on that stuff. I’ve let my car get to 0 miles to empty more times than I care to admit.
