ATV Accidents:
Prayers for Sunni Hecht Injured in ATV Accident
Published 7/20/2014
Brad Ost Released from Hospital Following ATV Accident
Published 10/04/2014
The second most popular story, or stories in this case, dealt with two extremely unfortunate ATV accidents. Technically, these two stories were the second and third most popular stories of 2014 on GoHorseShow.com, but because they both dealt with ATV accidents, we are combining them into one topic.
As we reported in June, Sunni Hecht of Lewistown, Montana was injured in a serious ATV accident and underwent emergency brain surgery and remained in a coma for weeks. Today, according to Sunni’s sister, Courtney Stewart, who has kept us all updated on Sunni’s CaringBridge page, “Sunni has adapted to her life at QLI (a post-hospital center for brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation) in Omaha. This facility is an assisted living environment, which will not only continue her rehabilitation, but will also help her rebuild her life. She will remain there for the foreseeable future.” On behalf of everyone at GoHorseShow.com, we wish Sunni and her family well on her long road to recovery.
Trainer, Brad Ost was also injured in an ATV accident in September and spent two weeks in the hospital in Denton, Texas. After nine days in the ICU and multiple surgeries, Brad has made a very successful recovery with miraculous wins at the Congress and AQHA World Show shortly after his release from the hospital. Despite the horse show community rallying together to raise money, Brad’s hospital bills that well exceeded $100,000, are a burden that he will continue to deal with and a reminder to all of us about the importance of ATV safety.

29 Year-Old War Horse Storms Back into Show Arena
Published 10/06/2014
The tenth most popular story of the year for 2014 was one of our personal favorites and apparently a favorite of our readers as well. GoHorseShow.com writer Meghan Smith introduced us to 29 year-old Storm Commander, affectionately known as Ralph by owner Roy Schwab who purchased the gelding 20 years ago for his daughter, Becki. Despite having been retired for the past 10 years, Ralph had a triumphant return to the show pen this summer with Roy proving that a horse’s career doesn’t end when he retires from showing and that it’s nice to have old friends around when you’re in need of a little boost.
