Saturday night at the Reichert Celebration in Tulsa, Oklahoma, saw an event unparalleled by horse show standards. Fire, smoke and lasers were just the beginning of an evening full of drama and fun. Thirty of the best maiden two-year-olds in the country showed for a total purse of $250,000 with $100,000 going to the winner.

The judges for the evening had been kept secret for months and were revealed as they exited a white stretch limousine in the middle of the arena. Those judges were Murray Griggs, Nancy Sue Ryan, Gretchen Mathes, and Dean Bogart with Robin Frid and Jennifer Thompson acting as tie-breaker judges.
JR Reichert tried something new this year – the ability for the audience and those watching online to text their vote for the winner of the class. Those results were as follows:
242 votes – Sure Am Hot and Katy Jo Pickard
197 votes – Cutelicious and Tina Kaven
160 votes – Inviting Rumors and Ty Hornick
95 votes – Were Talkin Radical and EH Pait
81 votes – Blazed And Amazed and Shane Dowdy
Two splits and a final eventually revealed not only a winner, but the champion by unanimous decision. Katy Jo Pickard and Sure Am Good took home the check for $100,000 placing first under all six judges. In addition, the pair won $5,000 more because Pickard was mounted in a Harris Leather and Silverworks saddle.
