GoHorseShow.com is very happy to report that 64-time AQHA World Champion, Ted Turner, was released from the hospital Thursday after undergoing successful kidney surgery. Turner was given a clean bill of health by the doctors and was pronounced 100% cancer free, according to his wife, Darlene Turner.
Turner underwent bladder surgery a month ago. Monday’s surgery removed part of his kidney. They only had to remove a small portion of his kidney which should allow him the use of 75-80% when completely recovered.
The doctors believe the long-term prognosis is that there will be no need for radiation or any further treatment. Turner will return in three months for a routine checkup.
Turner missed his first Congress since 1983, a span of 25 years. For the next few weeks he will be home resting. Typical rehabilitation for this surgery takes four weeks. He should be “good to go,” according to Darlene, for the World Show which is approximately six weeks out. The doctors recommend that he walk as much as he can and is not allowed to lift anything more than five pounds.
Ted would like to thank everyone for all the flowers, cookies, calls and well-wishes and he looks forward to seeing everyone in Oklahoma City.
