Jason Martin Wins Trainer Bowl 2008 – Over $14,000 Raised For Charity

After receiving nearly 200,000 total votes through 6 rounds of
competition and over the span of 26 days, our two Trainer Bowl
finalists, Jason Martin and Steve Heckaman, have spoken up…and we
have listened. They got together and proposed that the winner of the
2008 Trainer Bowl presented by Kendalls Western Hats should not be the
person who receives the most votes in the final round, but rather the
person who can raise the most money for their charity of choice!

We were thrilled with their decision to make this about winning, not
for themselves, but for two very deserving charities. We’re certain our
readers will agree that these late-breaking changes are all for a great
cause!

So here’s how it’s going to work. Each trainer has picked a charity that they will be playing for and we ask you, our readers, to vote for your favorite trainer by making a donation to the trainer’s charity. You can support them as much or as little as you like, we just ask that you please give something if you are able. All the donation proceeds will go directly to their charity. The trainer who raises the most money for their charity will be crowned the winner of the 2008 Trainer Bowl.

Jason Martin is playing for the Lynn Simons Memorial APHA Scholarship. Click here to learn more about the Lynn Simons Memorial APHA Scholarship and read why Jason felt he wanted to honor his good friend, the late Lynn Simons.

Steve Heckaman is playing for the NSBA Trainers Crisis Fund. Click here to learn more about the NSBA Trainers Crisis Fund and read why Steve picked this charity which is so near and dear to his heart.

Both Jason and Steve have requested that the two prize hats provided by Kendalls Western Hats be given to the highest bidders. The Pure Beaver valued at $1,100 will be given to the winning trainer’s highest bidder and the 20x valued at $450 will be given to highest bidder for the runner-up trainer. In the event of a tie, the winner of the hat will be drawn at random.

We encourage you to please donate as much as you can to either or both of these deserving and worthwhile charities.  You may make your donations until Sunday, January 18th at 10pm eastern.  Thank you!
