GoHorseShow.com is looking in to the recent allegations regarding mismanagement of funds by the Just For Pleasure (JFP). Gohorseshow.com received two letters sent to us from the JFP – one written by the JFP and the other written by their attorney John R. Car III. It is our understanding that these letters have been sent to all JFP participants.
A letter dated February 27, 2009 by the attorney for the JFP, states that “In the Fall of 2007, it was discovered by John and Tye Carson that Just For Pleasure, Inc….had not filed tax returns since 2001, and that the prize fund had been largely exhausted.” The letter continues that “The problems were entirely the responsibility of a shareholder/director/officer in control of the company and its assets and we are satisfied that neither John nor Tye had any knowledge of any of the issues prior to the fall of 2007. The person responsible has signed a written statement acknowledging their full responsibility.”
[NPI]/Media/2/jpg/2009/3/JFPLogo1.jpg[/NPI]In the letter written by John, Tye and Paul on behalf of the JFP, they inform JFP participants that the money collected from the 2008 auction will be available for payout in 2012 and that people who purchased a breeding in the 2008 auction have two choices. The first option is “To continue with the breedings you purchased and show for the money in 2012.” The second option is to “Ask for a refund and your money will be refunded to you.” People must request a refund from the JFP office no later than March 10, 2009. Additionally, in a statement which sent a blow to many of the people expecting payments from the 2008 show, the JFP “regret to inform the people who won Stallion Service Auction (SSA) money at the 2008 show that the money is not there and is part of this litigation.”
People are now left wondering what this means for those whom have already paid money for the (SSA) breedings, JFP Slots and who have nominated horses for the future.
