We are saddened to report that the legendary stallion,
Potential Investment has died due to complication from colic at the age of 18. The bay AQHA stallion by Principle
Investment and out of Hot Little Treasure leaves an extraordinary impact on the
horse industry as a show horse, sire and grand-sire.
Potential Investment was owned by Steve Heckaman and Dr. Janis Kengis and stood at Steve
Heckaman Quarter Horses of Aubrey, Texas.
Following his career as a show horse which included such accomplishments
as Congress Champion and Reserve World Champion, “Martin” continued his legacy
as not only an industry changing sire, but also as an outstanding paternal and
maternal grand-sire. An AQHA
Leading Sire, Potential Investment has sired AQHA World Champions; Reserve
World Champions; Superior Performance; AQHA Champions; Quarter Horse Congress
Champions & Reserve Champions; ROM Performance Offspring, Pleasure
Money-Earners, and Halter & Performance Point Earners.
“We are all deeply saddened by today’s loss of Potential Investment,” reflects Heckaman. “Even though I saw him nearly every day, never has a horse awed and inspired me the way that he has. He was much admired for his physical attributes but his real strength was in his personality and his heart. I don’t believe anyone sets out to impact the history books but I hope Potential Investment will long be remembered as an influential sire for the show horse industry through his sons, grandsons and daughters. Everyone here connected to ‘Martin’ are sorely going to miss him.”
Our deepest condolences to Steve and Erin Heckaman, the Kengis family and Brama Farms and
everyone in the performance horse industry who has been impacted by this
legendary stallion.
