The Pinto World Championship was a tremendous success with huge classes, prizes, and fun social events. Held June 7-18th, the twelve day show at the Expo Square in Tulsa, Okla. was a hub of PtHA activity. Classes ranged from halter to jumping and everything in between and challenged over 2,000 of the world’s best Pinto horses, ponies and miniatures throughout the show.
The list of social events involved free food and entertainment and an opportunity to meet new friends and reunite with old ones. They had exciting events like the Supreme Color Championship where the World Champions from each Open Tobiano and Overo Color class had the option of returning on Friday, June 17, to compete for the title of Supreme Champion Color Pinto. Other fun classes included the Challenged Rider’s Leadline, Open Costume Class, Celebrity Walk/Trot class, Charity Walk/Trot, Trainer’s Leadline, and a Versatility Showcase. The Mayor of Tulsa, a local weatherman, television anchor, and several state representatives showed in the Celebrity Walk-Trot class. They also had a Hawaiian themed day, Flag Day, a Pink Day to bring attention to Cancer research, a dog show, and a cookout. They even had a barrel racing class for miniature horses in carts which was a huge hit! “It was a great show and there was a 15 percent increase from last year in the size with nearly 7500 entries,” Darrell Bilke, who is the Exec. Vice President/COO of the Pinto Horse Association of America told GoHorseShow.com. “We are just tickled with the success of the show. I think we have been able to increase the entries and the participation because the exhibitors love how family oriented our show is and we tried to have fun activities for the family every day–everyone seemed to enjoy and appreciate the effort we made to make the show fun for everyone.”
