Congress Results Now On AQHA Horse Records

Specific accomplishments will now appear on American Quarter Horse records.

The special achievement awards section on American Quarter Horse records will now feature specific accomplishments – and it all starts with this year’s All American Quarter Horse Congress.

The AQHA Executive Committee approved adding to AQHA records first-, second- and third-place finishes in AQHA-approved classes at affiliate-owned shows (single or combined circuits) that have at least 7,500 entries. The accomplishments of American Quarter Horses competing in the Ohio Quarter Horse Association’s All American Quarter Horse Congress will be the first to have this achievement recorded.

“We are very excited that top placings at Congress will be recognized,” said Cam Foreman, OQHA Executive Vice President. “This will be a great benefit to our exhibitors.”

The number of entries will determine if the show will be recognized each year. The Congress–with nearly 10,000 AQHA entries from one show–would qualify, as well as major circuits in Oklahoma (Redbud Spectacular), Arizona (Sun Country Circuit) and Georgia (Big A Circuit).

Currently, American Quarter Horse racehorses have first-, second- and third-place finishes in graded events added to their records.

Additionally, effective immediately, finalists at AQHA world championship shows will have that designation added to their horse’s record. In previous years, only top 10, world champion and reserve world champion accomplishments were displayed on AQHA records. This change will be retroactive for all past AQHA world shows.

Founded in 1940, the American Quarter Horse Association is the largest equine breed organization in the world. With headquarters in Amarillo, Texas, AQHA has a membership of more than 300,000 people in 86 countries and has registered more than five million horses in 95 countries.
