Lopin For A Chex Sells to Select Amateur Susie Johns

GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Susie Johns of Paradise Valley, Arizona on purchasing Congress Western Pleasure Champion, Lopin For A Chex (Lazy), from Kaleena Weakly.

“I’m really excited to be able to buy such a talented young horse to build from the ground up,” new owner, Susie Johns, told GoHorseShow. “I have always admired Kaleena’s stock, and look forward to getting him solid in his lead changes and Trail.”

Johns adds, “I really love babies, and sometimes I feel stagnant showing older finished horses. It is a new challenge, and I really look forward to developing him into a winner. I’m sure my son, Jeffrey, will steal him from me at some point,” she says and laughs.

Susie just sold her horse, More Radical, to her sister Katherine Tobin so she was looking for a new prospect. Her trainers, Deanna and Jim Searles, tried Lazy out at the Congress under the overhang during one of the freezing nights in Columbus.

“I wasn’t sure whether Deanna liked him or not,” Susie recalls. “She didn’t ride him hardly at all, but come to find out, she immediately loved his feel and how he changed leads.”

The former owner, Kaleena Weakly, who recently placed seventh with Lazy in the Amateur Western Pleasure at the AQHA World Show, tells GoHorseShow that she is glad that Lazy is going to the Johns family. “He couldn’t be going into a better program with a better owner,” she says. “He is a seriously cool and talented horse that is a great mover, and I remember Charlie Cole telling me that Lazy reminded him of Harley D Zip when he was a four year-old. I can’t wait to see how he progresses in the Western Riding.”

Kaleena adds, “It was fun for my husband and I, as far as what a successful journey we have had with Lazy, because we picked him out ourselves together while watching him show at the 2010 Reichert Celebration…had him one month and won the Three Year-Old Non Pro Western Pleasure at the Congress,” she says. “Right now, he is still currently leading the nation in amateur western pleasure–so, we had quite a successful year with him, and it was a great way to end our show career.”

Weakly and Johns would like to thank, E.H Pait, Deanna and Jim Searles, and Charlie and Jason Martin for helping this deal come to fruition.

The 2007 bay gelding by Lazy Loper and out of She Bee A Chex has earned Superiors in the open and amateur western pleasure. Last month, Kaleena and Lazy were also Reserve Congress Champions in the Non Pro Western Pleasure Maturity.

We wish Lazy good luck with his new owners!
