The Gordyville July show located in Gifford, Illinois is a highly popular event every year due to the Shootout Showmanship and Western Pleasure classes.
“It is our way of giving back,” show manager Jody Quiram told GoHorseShow. “The classes are held for the winners throughout the year in the Novice, Youth, Amateur and Select. One must win their class to qualify. Each class is a $1000 purse which pays to 10th along with awards.”
The first place winner in the showmanship received a Kathy’s silver halter and the Western pleasure receives custom silver spurs donated by Pards Western Shop and Gordyville. Jessica Baird showing Cool Movin Lady was the double winner. All-around winners took home 25th Anniversary Gordyville custom buckles made by Skyline Silversmiths. All around winners were Novice 13 and under, Lauren Thoma, Novice 14-18, Danny Mikulski, Select, LuAnn Meyer, Youth 14-18 Brianna Tamulwiecz, 13 and under, Nya Kearns, Novice Amateur, Courtney Silvagni, Open Horse owned by Scott and Pam McDonald and the amateur, Jessica Baird.
The reception for Gordon Hannagan’s Hall of Fame and Gordyville’s 25th anniversary was held Friday evening with dinner and dancing. Johne Dobbs presented his pin from the AQHA Hall of Fame and many attended the party as far away as Florida. It was a great mix of newcomers to the industry, people with a long history with AQHA and all the local friends and customers Gordon sold for over the years.
“The retro pleasure was quite a riot. Everyone was dressed in their 70s decor and the judge, Dean Ross and ring steward, Mary Hannagan called the gates in 70s fashion,” Quiram recalls.
Johne Huber Dobbs, IQHA queen, presented 70s ribbons to Lynda Danielson, Bob Wills and Tanya Relander.
“A large crowd enjoyed this class and it caused a lot of laughter,” Jody says.
It was a great weekend and a few 70s exhibitors showed up for the party including Ken and Kathy (Krause) Ritter, Jeff Huls, Rick Skelly, Beth Moon, Johne Dobbs, Jo Huber, Dave Davis, Mark Vincent and Wayne and Judy Davis.
