Exhibitors at the 2012 Bank of America Amateur and FedEx Open World Championship Show kicked off the first day of competition November 2 in Oklahoma City. Exhibitors and their American Quarter Horses filled the arenas at the State Fair Park for the two-week event.
Many exhibitors and horses have already been crowned world champions including: Darcy Reeve defending her titles in both the amateur western pleasure and western riding; Whitney Vicars winning her second amateur world championship in horsemanship; Look N Hott coming back from illness to win the amateur hunter under saddle, and Daniel Carlson winning his first title in the amateur showmanship. There was also history made when living legend, Harley D Zip, showed in his last class before retirement and ended up with a top five finish in the amateur western riding. Also, our home page picture, pays homage to Candice Hall and Ima Struttin Machine on being reserve world champions in the amateur western riding.
On November 5, Amateur exhibitors danced the night away to the music of the Zac Wilkerson Band at the Amateur Barn Party. All comers were invited to the festivities in Barn 3 at Oklahoma State Fair Park. Attendees noshed on hors d’oeuvres and joshed with their fellow exhibitors after the day’s competition ended. It was a great time for all.
