The Martinganza Quarter Horse Show and Futurity was held this past weekend at the gorgeous Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center in Williamston, North Carolina. The judges this year included Gretchen Mathes, Gayle Lampien, Dawn Clason, and Mark DeFreece. According to many exhibitors, the show had great numbers and was deep despite the snow and cold weather.
Mary Huddleston and her mount, Assets In A Artbeat (Ralphie) started off the year on a good note. The duo were unanimous Circuit Champions in the 14-18 Hunter Under Saddle. “Thank you so much to my amazing trainers, my mom and dad, and my horse, Ralphie,” Huddleston states.
Huddleston also described the weather at the show.”Snow. Icicles. Wind. Antarctic weather. COLD! Other than that it was very fun. Everyone made the best of the two and a half inches of snow by having snow ball fights, and the staff was great!”
“It was a great show for us,” says Holt Graham-Pope about the show. “Shane won the Green Western Pleasure under both judges as well as the Green Futurity on Lil Black Dress owned by the Kimmel family. Also Mechanic was first under all four judges in the Junior and ended up Circuit Champion in the Junior and Amateur Western Pleasure with me. Lots of activity on the rail made for a fun show experience for Mechanic but we managed two thirds and the Circuit.”
