World Champion Certify This Chex Sells to Nancy Chapman

GoHorseShow is happy to report that Select Amateur Nancy Chapman of Somis, California has purchased Congress and AQHYA World Champion Certify This Chex (Lugnut) from Susan Ostrander of Westerville, Ohio.

“He’s so awesome, and I am downright giddy that I own him now,” says new owner, Nancy Chapman. “He is such a kind and gentle soul, and I look forward to showing him and qualifying him for the Select World this year.”

Former owner, Carey Nowacek, who won the Congress and World in the Youth Horsemanship with Lugnut in 2010, says that she is excited to see Lugnut go to such an amazing home.

“I have heard nothing but great things about Nancy, and I am confident Luggy will be so loved. He will be joining his old friend, Our Blue Moon, who Nancy bought from my cousin, Amanda Brightwell, in 2009 and that makes it even more special for us. I wish Nancy and Luggy the very best and cannot wait to watch them in the show pen. I will definitely be their biggest fan!”

The 2001 bay gelding is by Zippo Pine Chex and out of Sonny Hawkette. Youth exhibitors and sisters, Brianna and Allison Tamulewicz, have been showing the premier all-around gelding the past two years. Lugnut and Bree were the 2011 All Around Youth in the nation and also placed Top 5 in the Youth Horsemanship at the AQHYA World Show the same year. The duo amassed over 500 points during their youth career.

Allison Tamulewicz, who also showed Lugnut from time to time, says that she will forever miss his kisses. “Luggy always loved to give kisses, but he’s so big and such a goober that sometimes he would kiss just a little too hard. We would say ‘Luggy gives kisses and concussions!’ Also he loves food, happy tummy, happy Luggy. He’s a great big puppy really and we will miss showing him.”

Select Amateur Nancy Chapman told GoHorseshow that she is “over the moon” and really excited that she had the opportunity to purchase this talented all-around gelding.

“I watched Carey win the horsemanship at the AQHYA World Show a few years ago, and I have always loved him,” Chapman states. “I was at the right place at the right time, and I immediately jumped at the chance to buy him.”

Chapman and Lugnut will be making their show debut this weekend in Del Mar, California. The new duo plans to show in the horsemanship, western riding, trail, western pleasure, and performance halter geldings.

“I also said that if I could ever fit back into my english clothes that I would show him in the hunt seat equitation, but I’m having hip replacement surgery this fall so not sure if that will ever happen,” says Chapman, who recently hired trainer, Mike Hawkins to run her farm, Sierra Vista Ranch, located in Somis, California. “Mike was very instrumental in helping me buy Lugnut. When we were in Florida trying out another horse, he happened to run into Cole Baker who mentioned that the gelding might be for sale. Mike immediately said he thought Lugnut would be the perfect horse for me. After trying him out for about ten minutes, I knew he would be coming home to California.” (Lugnut pictured left-already living the good life in California)
