World Champion Halter Breeder Cal Loree Passes

“I am so deeply saddened to say that we lost one of the most incredible men today, Mr. Cal Loree,” says close friend, Rebecca Halvorson. “Cal was such an incredible person that had the most wonderful smile that made everyone he met feel special. Cal was a gentlemen in every sense of the word and did everything with honesty and integrity. Our family was so blessed to have him in our lives, we love you so much Cal, you will be so very missed.”

According to Halvorson, Loree’s involvement in AQHA and particularly halter horses was huge. Loree started with Sheik’s Whim and owned horses such as Ima Cool Skip, Coosa, Perpetualism, and, of course, the seven-time time AQHA World Champion, CRL Shesa Coolcoosa, which he bred, raised and owned. Cal was a national director for AQHA from Canada as well as a Director Emeritus. Cal also served on the AQHA Studbook and Registration Committee for many years. Cal and his wife, Rosemarie, started Loree Quarter Horses in Alberta, Canada and moved their operation to Guthrie, Oklahoma to become one of the leading breeders of halter horses. He will be greatly missed.
