GoHorseShow is sad to report the passing of World Champion, An Honest Detail (JJ) who was last owned by Gabi Salamone of Scottsdale, Arizona. JJ injured his leg in his stall and unfortunately had to be euthanized.
The 2002 bay gelding by Last Detail and out of Spookie Jackie was the 2006 Select Amateur Hunter Under Saddle World Champion and had multiple Congress and World Top 10 placings. He was owned over the years by several well known competitors including: Kathy Tobin, Sandra Lines, Kristin Crumpton-Mangosing and his last owner, Gabriella Salamone. The talented all-around gelding amassed nearly 1,000 points in nine different events.
“JJ really had the greatest personality and the sweetest disposition,” Salamone told GoHorseShow. “He was definitely the goofiest horse in the barn. He taught me so much during our time together, and he made me the rider I am today. He was always such a fun horse to show, and he’ll have a special place in my heart forever.”
Gabi and JJ placed in the Top 10 in the hunter under saddle at the 2011 and 2012 AQHYA World Show and this team also competed in the equitation, horsemanship, and showmanship. JJ was currently on a break and wasn’t actively being shown.
Salamone says that it was sad to say goodbye to her best friend and that he was “the greatest horse a girl could ever ask for.” She says she will always cherish the memories they made together.
“Whether he was escaping from his halter or caught standing under the chain in his stall, he always kept me laughing no matter how we were placing at the horse shows,” Gabi states. “He was special inside the arena and out, and I will never forget him and how he changed me for the better. He was truly the light of my life, and I still don’t know what I’m going to do without him. I’ll love you forever buddy, rest in paradise.”
