GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Josh Weakly of Shelbyville, Illinois on winning the AQHA World Show Leading Owner Award. Weakly received a Remington Bronze that the City of Oklahoma sponsored. “What an honor and a privilege, never dreamed we would be able to check this off our bucket-list so soon,” says Josh’s wife, Kaleena Katz Weakly.
Weakly received this award by accumulating eight trophies over the past few weeks in the amateur and open halter classes. His wins included the Amateur Aged Mares with Elusive Premonition; Amateur Two Year-Old Mares with Giancarla; and FG Coco Chanel in the Amateur Weanling Fillies. Weakly also received five Reserve World Championships including: Reserve Amateur Two Year-Old Geldings with Gamechanger; Call Me Maibe–Reserve Amateur Yearling Mares, Gianacarla–Reserve Two Year-Old Mares, Reserve Aged Mares–Elusive Premonition; and FG Coco Chanel–Reserve Weanling Fillies.
Josh says he would like to thank Andy Staton, Ross Roark and Luke Castle for getting his horses world show ready and helping him win this award. “I always thought in the back of my mind that I would like to win this award–we have been close before, getting reserve one year but this year we were finally able to win it. We are excited to come back next year and try to do it again.”
In 2012, Kevin McCrary of Mansfield, Texas won the Leader Owner Award and before that, it was won eight years in a row by controversial figure, Rita Crundwell of Dixon, Illinois.
This award is given to the owner who earns the most points at the AQHA World Championship Show. To be eligible for the award, at least three horses must be entered and shown under the same ownership.
