GoHorseShow would like to congratulate new owners, Alan, Monica and Blake Edler of Iowa on the purchase of 2012 Congress Champion, Only Invite The Best. Betty will be under the supervision of Jess Bergantzel Show Horses.
“We are very pleased Betty is going to a great home,” says former owner, Dr. Cory Seebach along with his wife, Dr. Candice Hall. “She is an amazing horse and we will miss her especially after all we’ve been through. We wish the Edlers all the best with her and will be following their success closely. She is always the sweetest kindest mare, and we have no doubt she has a great future ahead.”
Hall and Seebach would like to thank Gil Galyean for helping pick her out as a yearling. Also, a big thanks goes to Kristy McCann for piloting her to a Top 10 in the Senior Pleasure at the 2013 AQHA World Show, and, of course, Ryan Kail who made her a 2012 Congress Champion in performance halter mares.
“Betty has had a long list of admirers, and it is very much deserved,” Seebach states. “She helped me gain a ton of confidence in the halter pen. One of my favorite memories with her was when I was walking up at Congress to get my prize and Candice yelled so loud that Betty went up on her hind legs. We have a great picture of her all jazzed up which is rare for her.”
The buckskin mare (Betty Buckskin) is by Invitation Only and out of Zip N Therapy which is the dam of RL Best of Sudden. She was bred and raised by Candy and Bret Parrish of Pavo, Georgia, and the couple bought Betty as a yearling in the Reichert Sale. Gil Galyean showed her to a top ten finish at the Congress Two Year-Old Masters Class and was also a finalist at the AQHA World Show in the Two Year-Old Western Pleasure. Since then, Betty has been with Kristy McCann on the West Coast showing in western pleasure and western riding. (pictured below)
The past few years, Hall and Seebach have been through a lot with Betty. In December of 2012, Betty survived a tragic trailer wreck near Pecos, Texas involving several semis, and a motorhome during a sand storm. According to Seebach, professional horse transporter, Ray Wegner of Washington was rear ended by a semi where his rig was crushed all the way up to the rear axle.
“It has been a long road back to health and soundness since December of 2012,” says, Candice. “There were a few times we were ready to give up and pronounce her ‘pasture sound’, but we kept up with multiple bandage changes, doctoring, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories.”
Last May, Betty made a successful comeback to the show pen at a show in Monroe, Washington. “It really is a miracle that she could come back from her injuries and still want to be hauled and be a show horse–what heart she has,” Hall stated. “We are so thankful for all the hard work Kristy McCann put into Betty’s recovery.”
The new owners, Monica and Alan Edler told GoHorseShow that Betty was bought for their 17 year-old son, Blake to show. “He will show her at the Midwest AQHA shows and hopes to qualify for the Youth World,” says Monica about her son. “He is a senior and is having the best senior year–thanks to Betty. He looks forward to showing her this year and also while he is in college. He is a lucky kid. He rode her yesterday and we all agreed–she is a perfect fit.”
