Very Cool and Attencion Primed for Successful Breeding Season

Milan Quarter Horses, home of World and Congress Champion halter stallions, Very Cool, and 2013 World Champion Stallion, Attencion, is looking forward to the 2014 breeding season. Owners, Scott and Kelly Trahan of Athens, Texas have a goal to help improve and advance the breeding and quality of halter horses in the industry.

Their newest stallion, Attencion (Rex) is a chestnut 2008 stallion that became an AQHA World Champion in 2013. He stands 16 hands tall and is HYPP NH while all other genetic testing are negative. Scott Trahan, the primary principle in Milan Quarter Horses, has followed Attencion since he was a young weanling at Clark Rassi Quarter Horses. Trahan felt very strongly about the strong breeding/pedigree of this amazing animal along with his show potential.
Prior to the 2013 World Show, Trahan presented Attencion’s owners, Clark Rassi and Steve Robinson with an offer to purchase him and incorporate him into the Milan program. When the purchase was complete, the plan moved forward to show Rex at the 2013 World prior to offering him to the public as a sire.

“Tensions were extremely high at the World with everyone knowing how good or bad things could be with Attencion being accepted as a sire depending on his showing at the World Show,” Trahan recalls. “Fortunately or unfortunately people can be swayed by a good or bad showing at the World but Attencion was on the top of his show game and captured the World Title and coveted Gold Trophy with the expert handling of Ross Roark.”
Trahan adds, “I can’t tell you what a weight that was lifted once we knew he won. We have used this win to upstart his breeding career, and it has been amazing to see the interest in breeding to this stallion. Like Very Cool, Attencion is so correct and balanced with strong legs creating a very sound animal.”
Trahan’s other stallion, Very Cool is a two-time World Champion and five-time Congress Champion as a show halter stallion. He is HYPP NN and negative for the five panel test. He stands 16 hands tall and is a dark sorrel.
“The neat thing about Cool is his success as a NN stallion in the show pen and now his great success as a sire,” says Trahan.
In 2013, Very Cool sired multiple World Champions in AQHA, ApHC and APHA– all at the tender age of five years-old. In addition, he made the AQHA Leading Sires List with his Amateur progeny being shown.
“Cool is getting a strong reputation of producing halter horses with his correct frame, balance, and soundness,” Trahan states. “As a halter horse, it is so important to be a profiler. Many people have said Very Cool was one of the best profiling stallions to come along in a long time, and he is passing these same traits to his foals.”
Both stallions are standing at Chris Arentsen Quarter Horses in Trenton, Ilinois. Please contact breeding manager, Chris Arentsen at 618-623-9450 or owner, Scott Trahan at 972-672-5906 for more information. Also, check out their website by clicking here for more information.
