The Gordyville Shootout and AQHA show took place July 17th through the 20th in Gifford, Illinois. There were six AQHA split/combined shows over four days, the annual shootout, and NSBA Futurity Classic.
“The western pleasure classes were well attended and very competitive,” says Gordyville Show Manager Jody Quiram. The Senior and Amateur Western Pleasure were four pointers; Select Amateur, three pointers; Novice Amateur, five pointers with 29 entries; and the Junior Western Pleasure were three pointers.
Quiram adds, “Exhibitors enjoyed a party Friday evening and all around winners received custom silver bits sponsored by Pards Western Shop. Circuit awards winners for each class received a Gordyville dri-fit pullover.”
The Shootout, which was comprised of a Western Pleasure and Showmanship class, was inspired by cutting horses who have these types of classes where winners from all divisions come back in one class and compete against each other. This year, winners of classes from previous Gordyville shows were invited back to participate in the Gordyville Shootout.
The winner of the Gordyville Showmanship shootout was Rebecca McCardle and Sudden Billionaire while the reserve winner was Nicole Barnes and A Perfect Kryme. The winner of the Western Pleasure Shootout with 23 shown was Katie Bussing and A Good Cookie and reserve was Shelby Cochran with her mare, Sheza Hot Hocus
The winner of the showmanship won a silver halter from Pards Western shop and reserve won custom silver spurs. The champion of the western pleasure received a silver custom bit and reserve won spurs.
The next set of Gordyville shows are the Illinois Futurity shows, September 19-21 and Turkey Run, November 28-30.
