UPDATE: GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Jenna Dempze and Rewind and Repeat on winning the tough Amateur Western Pleasure class on Friday afternoon. This is Jenna’s first Congress Championship as a rider and ReRun’s second of the show. Gil Galyean won the Junior Western Pleasure on him earlier in the show.
“I’m still in shock!” Jenna told us right after her win. “The amateur is one of the toughest classes here. The best horses and riders in the country are in there. It means a lot to be recognized as the champion. ReRun showed very well today, and I had a fun time showing him!”
Check out the feature we wrote about them earlier this week below when Gil won the Junior Western Pleasure.
Way to go Jenna!

Jenna Dempze’s long time goal of winning a Congress championship finally came true Monday night when her four year-old bay gelding, Rewind and Repeat won the Junior Western Pleasure with multiple World and Congress Champion trainer Gil Galyean in the saddle.
“ReRun was great last night,” said Dempze after the win. “Gil did a great job showing him and everything just came together. He is so talented and he makes loping around look effortless. I never get sick of watching him. Not many horses can be soft, slow, and correct. Rerun is the whole package.”
Gil Galyean and ReRun had two firsts and a third which helped him come out on top of sixty other Junior Pleasure horses. Galyean was happy with his ride “It was a great win,” he told GoHorseShow. “He has a really great way of going, such ring presence, beautiful conformation and great eye appeal.”
Galyean believes ReRun is the type of horse the judges need to be rewarding in the pen today. “He lopes how I believe a great horse should lope–with tons of self carriage and elevation with a beautiful topline. It is hard to find ones like him. I am appreciative of the judges in recognizing his talent, and I am lucky that the Dempze’s had the foresight to buy him.”
We asked Jenna what it was like to win her first Congress championship. “It’s awesome. I’m so proud of Gil and ReRun. Being patient paid off. It was worth the wait!”
In 2012, ReRun was the Congress Two Year-Old Masters Reserve Champion and also placed third at the AQHA World Show in the Two Year-Old Western Pleasure. The Dempze family purchased ReRun in June, 2013 and Jenna and ReRun were unanimous winners at the Tom Powers Futurity in the Three Year-Old Non Pro and bronze champions in the Amateur Western Pleasure at the AQHA World Show.
Watch for Jenna and ReRun in the Amateur Western Pleasure later this week and at the AQHA World Show in November.
