Green Turns Congress Corner as Future All-Around Contender

AQHA World Champion, multiple Congress Champion and 2010 NSBA Horse of The Year, Blazingmytroublesaway, affectionately known as “Buttercup”, has proven that she is a serious all-around contender at this year’s Congress.  With her talented rider and owner, Deanna Green, in the saddle, they have become the new team to beat in horsemanship and western riding. They are also adding other events such as trail, showmanship and maybe even equitation to their list of classes.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Buttercup and Deanna,” says trainer Brad Jewett, who helps Deanna in the all-around events and was Reserve Congress Champion in the Senior Green Trail with Buttercup. “They have really stepped it up. They are great competitors and I’m having a great time with such a talented duo.”

We
talked to the very respectful and polite young lady at her stalls in the
Gilligan Barn. Deanna, who is 15 years-old and has three more years left in youth, tells GoHorseShow that she adores Buttercup because, “She is really sweet and she’s a palomino. She also loves treats and to be petted. I love everything about her.”

At this year’s Congress, Deanna was Reserve Champion in the NYATT Horsemanship and third in the 15-18 Horsemanship.  In a 2011 interview, she told GoHorseShow that one of her goals was to win the Western Riding at the AQHYA World Show. That dream came true in August when she was awarded the AQHYA World Championship in the Youth Western Riding with an impressive score of 237.5.

Blazinmytroublesaway has earned a permanent place as a member of the Green family and everyone agrees she has a home for life.  Her late dam, Really in Trouble, was discovered by AQHA Professional Horseman, Mike Carter when he bought her as a green three year-old. Mike ended up winning the 3 Year-Old Open and Limited on her at the Congress and was Reserve AQHA World and Congress Champion on her in the Junior Western Pleasure. The dam and daughter are spitting images of each other in color and movement.

When Blazinmytroublesaway was three years-old, Deanna’s father, trainer Rusty Green, heard fellow horseman, Saul Sliss, had her in training and that she was for sale. “I give Saul a lot of credit regarding developing the foundation on this mare. He did a great job with her,” Rusty said.
Rusty’s wife, Katie, mentions that it was a funny story how Deanna ended up showing the palomino mare. “Deanna just loves palominos and she kept wearing us down. She just fell in love with her the first time she saw her. We were unsure about her showing a novice three year-old, but she finally talked us into it and they were a perfect match.”
And a perfect pair they continue to be. Next year, Deanna has her sights on the all-around events and looks to become a serious contender at the major shows. Deanna says one of her future goals is to win the All-Around Youth title at the Congress. Deanna is also interested in riding for an NCAA Equestrian Team in college and has taken up a new equestrian sport, cutting.

One last thing that Rusty insisted people know about his daughter is that she is known to be quite a good rapper.
Who knew? Rusty and Katie hoped we’d link to a video of Deanna
showing off her rap skills, but Deanna let it be known that she was adamantly against that idea.

Regardless of the future path this young lady takes, one thing is for certain, she will enjoy great success whatever she chooses to do. We wish her the best of luck with her future endeavors.
