It was an exciting Saturday night at the Congress with the Two Year-Old Masters Classes. The hunter under saddle class started at 7 pm with the horses trotting down the middle and a quick warm up. There were nine in the class with three of the top horses being sired by leading stallion, These Irons Are Hot.

The champion was My Invitations Are Hot by These Irons Are Hot for owner Adria Smith with Trish Yamber in the irons. Smith also owns the stallion These Irons Are Hot. They were the judges’ overwhelming pick and received three firsts and a second and $25,000. The judges for this event included Debbie Kail, Karen Graham, John Briggs and Jennifer Thompson.
“It is a very special win,” says Adria Smith of Seaside, LP, owner of the winner. “Carson is out of a daughter of Invitation Only that my mother owned. Carson was the first foal out of that mare by These Irons Are Hot. My mother named him and everything. It is a wonderful feeling to win with a horse that you bred and raised.”
Trish Yamber added, “I’m really happy for Adria since this win is memorable due to her mother’s recent passing and the fact that Adria bred and raised him.”
“We are thrilled to have three horses sired by These Irons Are Hot in the top nine of the Masters Class,” says Amy Gumz, of Gumz Farms who stands the stallion at her farm in Morganfield, Kentucky. The Reserve Champion was Kizz My Irons ridden by Dawn Baker. “Having the Champion and Reserve Champion in this prestigious class is simply amazing. It goes to show the consistent quality that we have come to expect from foals sired by These Irons Are Hot.”
The Masters Two Year-old Western Pleasure Class took place right after the presentation for Invitation Only. It was historic since he is now AQHA’s all-time leading sire. Invy looked absolutely breathtaking in the center of the arena while being awarded for his accomplishments as a sire. (View pictures in slideshow).Next up was the Masters Two Year-Old Western Pleasure Class which had twelve horses and riders with Karen Hornick being the lone woman in the class. Hornick ended up sixth in the class with Certainly Kissed. Jay Starnes won his third Masters Class with The Lopin Machine with three firsts and a fifth. This gorgeous stallion is owned by Rawlings Enterprises, LLC from Australia. The judges for the event were Holly Hover, Rhonda Replogle, Mark Sheridan, and Robin Frid. The winner received $50,000.
