Remembering Bruce Walquist – A Photo Tribute

Always there with a warm smile and a genuine greeting, Bruce touched so many lives in the equine industry. We've compiled several images from over the years to help remember him.

Obituary from the National Snaffle Bit Association:

The National Snaffle Bit Association joins the equine industry in mourning the loss of Bruce Walquist, 68, of Cleburne, Texas, following a horse-related accident.

Bruce had shown many NSBA and Palomino Horse Breeders of America world champions as well as futurity champions. A professional horse trainer for more than 30 years, Bruce had also trained numerous world and Quarter Horse Congress champions in Halter and All Around events. He held judges’ cards with the American Quarter Horse Association, National Snaffle Bit Association and the World Conformation Horse Association. Bruce specialized in training, sales and lessons with clients and horses for AQHA All Around events. His clients have earned more than a dozen AQHA world and reserve world championships in All Around events.

Bruce was well known for the ever-present smile upon his face, his words of encouragement to exhibitors and his eye for a great horse, as well as his great faith and love of his family, friends and the horse industry.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy, daughter and accomplished Non-Pro exhibitor, Whitney Walquist Vicars, and son-in-law, Craig Vicars, who worked in the training business with Bruce.

Arrangements will be shared once they become available. Our thoughts and prayers are with Cindy, Whitney and Craig at this time.
