Don’t miss your chance to make a difference in the American Quarter Horse Youth Association and add the title of AQHYA officer or director to your list of leadership roles! During the 2022 Youth Excellence Seminar July 12-14 in Amarillo, AQHYA members will attend educational seminars, participate in community service activities and elect new AQHYA officers and directors. The priority registration and officer and director application deadlines are June 1.

Registration is $125 for current AQHYA and AQHA members and $140 for all other youth and adults. Registrations received after June 1 will be charged a $25 late fee and are subject to availability. All registration fees include meals.
Just like AQHA, AQHYA maintains its own governing body of youth members who are committed to giving back and making AQHYA the best it can be for youth members around the world. Elections for the 2022-23 AQHYA Executive Committee and regional directors will take place throughout YES.
Candidates for a regional director position must meet the following requirements:
- Candidate must be a current AQHYA member in good standing.
- Candidate must be a delegate from his or her affiliate of residency.
- Candidate must be 14 years old at time of election.
- Candidate, except those representing international affiliates, must attend the Youth Excellence Seminar.
Candidates for an officer position on the AQHYA Executive Committee must meet the following requirements:
- Candidate must be a current AQHYA member in good standing.
- Candidate must be, or have been, an officer in his or her affiliate.
- Candidate must have completed a one-year term as an AQHYA regional director.
- To be eligible as a candidate for national office, youth must be elected as a regional director in the current election.
- If a regional director is elected to an office, he or she gives up their regional directorship and is replaced by the next highest scoring director candidate in his or her respective region.
- Candidate must be a delegate from his or her affiliate.
- Candidate must be 16 years old at time of election.
- Candidate must attend the Youth Excellence Seminar.
All candidate application materials must be received at AQHA by midnight on June 1 apart from the candidate workbook and speeches to be due on June 15. Application materials can be found in the AQHYA Guide to Campaigning.
