During the past two weeks, the top exhibitors and horses from around the world competed at the 2019 Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show at OKC Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The 2019 AQHA All-Around Amateur Award is presented to the exhibitor and horse team that earns the most points in three or more Level 3 amateur events in three categories during the show. This year, 16 contenders qualified to compete for the title.
Angela Fox of Frisco, Texas, earned the title of 2019 AQHA All-Around Amateur for the second year in a row. Fox showed her American Quarter Horse, HP The Rusty Fox. The 2015 sorrel gelding, who is by Mechanic and out of Sheza Pleasure by Nite Chip, was bred by Mariann Harrington and Joe Prause of Cabot, Arkansas. Fox and HP The Rusty Fox earned 48.5 points. They placed third in horsemanship, fourth in amateur performance halter geldings and showmanship, fifth in hunter under saddle and seventh in amateur hunt seat equitation.
The All-Around Amateur received a one-year use of a Sundowner trailer and an original Lisa Perry bronze.
Whitney Vicars of Cleburne, Texas, earned the title of Reserve All-Around Amateur. Vicars showed her homebred American Quarter Horse, Southwestern Gunman. The 2006 bay gelding is by Dress Western and out of Ms Southern Border by Sonny South Two. The pair earned 42.5 points. They won the world champion title in horsemanship, placed fifth in showmanship, and sixth in amateur hunt seat equitation and amateur performance halter geldings. The team was also finalists in amateur trail.
The Reserve All-Around Amateur received $5,000 and a silver bowl.
Placing third was Scott Allen Reinartz of Crossroads, Texas. Reinartz showed his American Quarter Horse, Investin A Goodbar. The 2009 sorrel gelding, who is by Ima Zippo Good Bar and out of Foxy Asset by Investment Asset, was bred by Jim Dudley of Columbia, Missouri. The pair earned 38 points. They earned the world champion title in amateur pleasure driving and placed third in showmanship and fourth in amateur trail. Reinartz and Investin A Goodbar were also finalists in horsemanship and amateur performance halter geldings.
Placing fourth was Taylor Searles of Scottsdale, Arizona. Searles showed the American Quarter Horse Hereicomagain, owned by Katherine Tobin of Scottsdale. The 2013 brown mare, who is by Good I Will Be and out of Lookouthereicome by RL Best Of Sudden, was bred by E & G Ranch LLC of Chipley, Florida. Searles and Hereicomagain earned 25 points. They won the world championship title in amateur western riding and placed fourth in amateur western pleasure. Searles and Hereicomagain were also finalists in horsemanship.
Placing fifth was Kaleena Weakly of Shelbyville, Illinois. Weakly showed her American Quarter Horse, Dontskipmygoodimage. The 2005 sorrel gelding, who is by Don’t Skip Zip and out of Zippos Good Image by Zippos Mr Good Bar, was bred by Jan Shepherd Pittman of Chipley, Florida. The pair earned 17 points. They won the reserve world championship in showmanship.
The third- through fifth-place All-Around Amateur finalists received $1,500.
