Kimes Kandids and Rundown from Gordyville Shootout

The Gordyville Shootout Show took place this past weekend July 19-22nd. The show was judged by Mike Hoeppner, Will Knabenshue, Michelle Tidwell, Jeff Allen, Terry Cross and Steve Stephens. It was a great show with lots of new faces, exhibitor parties and unseasonably cool gorgeous weather.

The highlights of the show were the three Shootouts in western pleasure, showmanship and hunter under saddle. Riders qualify throughout the year by placing first in their class at a Gordyville show. It includes riders in all Rookie, Novice, Youth, Amateur and Select Classes. Each class had a $1,000 pot and some great prizes including Gordyville Shootout Spurs, a Gordyville Shootout Show Halter, Gift Cards for a Custom Hunt Seat Shirt from Marigold Apparel, GoHorseShow Ad Certificates, Closet Space Gift Certificates and more.

“The awards were fantastic as usual, and it was the first year they did the hunter under saddle shootout. There was also a breakfast sponsored by the Freeman family to help raise money for the Kenny Freeman Memorial Youth Scholarship Fund,” youth exhibitor Emma Garcia told us. Emma’s trainer, Lynda Danielson was the circuit champion in Senior Hunter Under Saddle with Emma’s horse, HRZ Elegant And Blue, and was the circuit champion in Junior Hunter Under Saddle with her other horse, HOOS At The Girls. They also won the NSBA 3/4 year old Hunter Under Saddle Class.

The first Shootout class was the western pleasure, which took place Friday morning. Karen Boxell and her red roan mare, Good Going Danika took top honors. Sheri Banta and her bay gelding, Touch My Potential came in reserve.

On Saturday morning, the Showmanship Shootout took place with almost 30 exhibitors. Youth competitor, Madison Spak and Hot Flowin Jazz won the Shootout Championship. Another youth competitor, Lydia Brahler and her horse, Sure A Hot Krymsun won the reserve.

The last Shootout competition took place Saturday evening. The ILQHA Amateur Committee sponsored the HUS Shootout, new to the lineup this year. Tracie Petersak and Only Sparks Fly, a black mare, won the class. Sara Fransen and No Simple Man took the reserve.

The next show at Gordyville will be the ILQHA Fall Futurity, September 21-23rd. We hope to see you there.
