The Augsberger family of Pinetree Quarter Horses in Lake Butler, Florida, is excited to welcome NSBA World and Reserve World Champion Pennyforurthoughts (Peter) to the family. Nineteen-year-old Cheyenne Augsberger is looking forward to starting her amateur career with her new horse.
The 3-year-old sorrel gelding is by Machine Made and out of Too Cute To Snooze. Peter recently won the 3-Year-Old Open Trail, was Reserve Champion in the Limited at the NSBA World Show, and won the Three-Year-Old Trail in Kentucky with Justin Wheeler.
“We watched him in the 3-Year-Old Trail class at NSBA and thought he was amazing,” Cheyenne told us. “Along with being gorgeous, he is such a sweet boy. We had been looking for a new horse throughout the NSBA show and tried out many. We had to wait until the last day of the show to try him out after his last class. Just watching him show was probably what sold us on him. His ring presence is incredible. You can’t help but want to watch and love him.”
Cheyenne says that Peter will be her new amateur horse, and they plan to teach him new classes. “We will be showing him in the trail and hoping to teach him some more classes. He seems very willing and is so talented.”
This year is Cheyenne’s last year of youth. She says it is “bittersweet” to be her last year. “I have loved every minute of my youth years.”
Augsberger adds, “I’m hoping to be able to keep showing Huntin For Candy at some of the bigger shows. He has been so good to me, and I don’t know if I can leave him home too much. He will be in semi-retirement now. He surely deserves that. I also love showing our pony horse, Hesa Taw Hancock, in the ranch classes. He is just fun to show and tries super hard to please all of us. I will also show The Irons Hot in the hunter under saddle at the Congress.”
Cheyenne’s grandmother, Doris Collier and the entire Augsberger family recently suffered a massive loss with the passing of James Collier, this past June. He was 80. “It was tough to lose my grandfather,” Cheyenne explained. “He supported me with my horses for my whole life. He was the best granddad anyone could have ever wanted. I have always lived next door to my grandparents, and he and I were very close. He taught me so much about life. It’s been hard not to have him to talk to. I wish he could meet Peter, but in a way, I feel like he sent him to me.”
Cheyenne would like to thank the Schrim family for selling Peter, and Justin and Joy Wheeler for being amazing to work with through this transaction. “I want to thank my parents and grandma for making all this possible and continuing to support me and my horse dreams.”
