About the Cover

Eighteen-year-old Alexia Tordoff of Powell, Ohio, is featured on the cover of the AQHYA World Show issue of GoMag. This is Tordoff’s last year in youth and the last time she will get to walk down the Gateway of Champions into the Norick Arena as a youth competitor.

“The feeling is overwhelming,” Alexia shared. “It is so hard to believe that my youth career is coming to a close. Yet, when I reflect on all the memories, I can’t help but smile.”

According to Alexia, her favorite wins are either when she won the 2021 AQHA Youth World Championship in the 14-18 Level 3 Hunter Under Saddle with Too Blazin Cool or when she won the NYATT Horsemanship at the Congress with Blazing Hot N Gold in 2019.

“Both horses have had such an incredible impact on my life. I am the rider I am today because of them. I remember feeling so thankful for the opportunity to show those horses. My most precious memories will always be showing with my sister, though,” Tordoff reflects. “We both love the Horsemanship so much, and having the opportunity to show alongside each other for so long has been so special. She is always my biggest supporter.”

At this year’s show, Alexia will be showing Too Blazin Cool in the Hunter Under Saddle and Equitation and Lookin Lazy in the Horsemanship. “I am so excited to have the opportunity to show these two horses. They have been members of our family for years, and I wouldn’t want to end my youth career any other way.”

This fall, Alexia will be joining her sister, Olivia, at Auburn University, where she will be a freshman. “I am excited to continue my education, while also doing what I love most. I cannot wait to be on the equestrian team with my sister. I am grateful to be on a team with such hardworking and talented young women.”

Tordoff would like to thank her family and friends for all the support they have given her on this “crazy” journey.

“I cannot even begin to thank Brent Tincher and Dale Hamilton enough for all they have taught me over the years. I am the rider and the person I am today because of them. I am thankful for every horse, person, and opportunity I have been blessed with these past 18 years. From doing lead-line with my sister to winning a World Championship, I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. So, here’s to one last time.”
