About the Scholarship Fund

AQHA Professional Horseman Guy Stoops was a talented third-generation horseman. His grandfather was a cavalry instructor during World War I and his father was an avid hunter-jumper and three-day eventer. After Stoops was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in 2003, he was posthumously named AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year.

Stoops believed strongly in giving back to fellow professional horsemen through education and he supported the AQHA Professional Horsemen program since its inception. The Guy Stoops scholarship was founded in 2004 in his memory and has awarded scholarships totaling over $95,000to 26 children. Stoops’ legacy and dedication to AQHA lives on through the scholarship fund and through the Professional Horsemen and their families it impacts.

About AQHA PAC

AQHA PAC was founded in 2005 by the AQHA Public Policy Committee and is one way AQHA makes an impact in Washington, D.C. AQHAPAC, a separate entity from the Association, relies on individual contributions for funding. In turn, it makes contributions to political candidates who support AQHA and horse industry issues. AQHA PAC is a way for AQHA members to raise money to make a greater financial impact with candidates.

Having the ability to successfully fight for the rights of America’s horse-owning public is critical. Our issues are as diverse as the people who own horses. Favorable tax legislation, disaster relief for horse owners, land-use issues, veterinary care and medication topics, interstate race wagering and simulcasting, and proactive animal welfare are just some of the areas in which AQHA PAC makes a difference.

AQHA PAC’s efforts, combined with strong grassroots efforts of AQHA members like you and other horse owners at the state level, help keep horse activities one of the most robust industries in the United States, with a direct economic effect on the U.S. of $50 billion annually.
