Throw Back Friday – 7 Years Ago the Legendary Harley D Zip Became a Breyer Horse

Seven years ago, it was announced that the legendary Harley D Zip was a new Breyer horse. Take a look back on this fun moment when one of our own became immortalized.

TBF – This week’s Throw Back Friday features the legendary Harley D Zip, who became a Breyer horse seven years ago. His record-breaking number of wins made Harley a Western Riding legend in the show pen and vaulted him to a level seldom seen for horses within our industry. In addition, the bay gelding has earned more points, world championship titles, and Incentive Fund money than any other horse in the history of Western Riding for his owners, the Papendick family of Highview Ranch Quarter Horses Rapid City, SD. He now enjoys a comfortable retirement at the Papendick’s ranch in South Dakota…and the iconic Breyer horse commemoration forever.

Highpoint Performance Horses and The Papendick Family of South Dakota are excited to announce that their legendary horse, Harley D Zip, is a new Breyer horse model. It will be available soon at the cost of $44.99. You may also purchase a rider and the accessories for an additional cost. The model also comes with a championship neck sash.

“Growing up as a child, I collected Beyer horses, and I always named them after my favorite horses,” says Jason Martin of Highpoint Performance Horses, who won multiple AQHA World and Congress Championships on Harley. “It’s hard to believe that I will have a Breyer horse with the correct name–it’s a dream come true. I’m so happy for Harley and that his legacy will live on for the next generation of kids.”

Owner Kerry Papendick agrees, “It’s amazing actually to see the Breyer model of Harley, and it’s surreal to look out the window of our home to see him munching grass in the pasture as he enjoys his well-deserved retirement. Every time I see him, I’m so thankful to have him in our life. I’m sure if Harley could, he would sign the Breyer models.”

Kerry’s daughter, Ali Papendick, adds, “I remember playing with Breyer horses when I was little and keeping horses such a Zips Chocolate Chip and Zippo Pine Bar in their box because they were legendary horses. Never would I imagine that I would have had the honor to show, let alone own a Breyer horse, and when I think about it, I’m pretty sure those Breyers are still in the box.”

Kerry’s other daughter, Kristina Papendick, says those who compete at the Rapid City horse shows bring their Harley Breyer and take a picture with him at Highview Ranch.

“Everyone has a special animal that they wish to have forever,” Kristina says. “Thanks to Breyer horse, my family has that opportunity. As a young girl, I loved collecting the famous racehorse models and pretended that I was their actual owner taking care of them. Now, the next generation can do that with the Harley model.”
