GoMag: November AQHA World Show Issue Online Now

The November 2020 issue of GoMag is the biggest November issue in GoMag history.

What a long, strange year 2020 has been. When the world came to a screeching halt in March, few could have predicted what the next seven months would bring in the horse show industry. Throughout the year, however, the industry proved that it could not be deterred.

A true testament to the resilience and fortitude of our industry, and to the love and dedication of horse show people, is that the November issue of GoMag is the biggest (and best) World Show issue in GoMag history. To say that we are grateful does not come close to adequately expressing our appreciation for our advertisers and everyone involved in this historic issue. Thank you and best of luck to everyone competing in Oklahoma City.

The ever-stylish and talented Kent Ray Taylor is featured on this month’s cover of GoMag with his mare, Dont Think Twice (Marley). This successful duo will be showing at the AQHA World Show in the Amateur Performance Halter Mares, Select Amateur Showmanship, Horsemanship, and Western Pleasure. His trainer, Blake Weis will be showing her in the Level 2 Senior Trail and Western Riding.

“Getting to show at the world show is always fun and exciting, but this year, with it being so large and combined, it should make for an even better time to go,” Kent Ray told us. His goals are to win the Amateur Select Horsemanship and Showmanship. “I want to win them as a select rider. Then, I can say I won them as a youth, as an amateur, and hopefully as a select rider.”

Snap It Send It (Bailee) also returns to the AQHA World Show where she won the 2019 Pleasure Versatility Championship with Blake Weis. They will be showing this year in the Open Performance Mares, Junior Trail, Western Riding, and Western Pleasure.

Over the past few months, Kent Ray and his two mares had great shows at the NSBA World Show and Arizona Fall Championship. Marley bested 112 other horses and won the NSBA World Championship in Senior Trail by an impressive five points. She was also Reserve in Green Senior Western Riding and Taylor and Marley were fourth in the tough Select Amateur Horsemanship. Bailee was Reserve in Green Junior and Junior Western Riding, as well as the 4-6 BCF Trail and fourth place in the Junior Trail.

“We had a fantastic NSBA World Show and Arizona Fall Championship. It was so exciting. Both shows were huge and we had a great deal of fun,” Kent Ray said. “In Arizona, we won a lot on both mares – two saddles, three all-arounds and multiple circuit championships, and both the western riding and trail futurity classes. It was an amazing show…so blessed.”

Taylor adds, “For me, showing is a hobby. I’m very competitive, but I want to have a good time. I like to hang out with the people at the horse show. I like to watch, not just my horses, but other events as well. I think it’s a lot of fun, and I like that it’s a family.”

Watch out for Kent Ray with his two talented mares, Marley and Bailee, in Oklahoma City. They surely will be hard to miss.
