GoHorseShow is sad to report that GoHorseShow Reporter and horse trainer Dakota Diamond (Griffith) Sidwell lost her beloved mare, Hopeful Assets, on Sunday. The gorgeous mare was 18 years old.
With an unprecedented five back-to-back AQHYA high point wins in hunter under saddle, Hopeful Assets became the all-time leading youth hunter under saddle horse in AQHA history at the age of seven. With 1344 lifetime AQHA points and superiors in youth and open hunter under saddle and halter, Hope was also an AQHA and AQHYA champion.
“My whole heart and soul have been taken from me,” Dakota posted on her Facebook page on Sunday night. “I’m not sure when or if I will recover from this loss but I will live on with the beautiful memories. This horse made me who I am…she and I were the dream team. She will never be replaced. My once in a lifetime…my angel…Hopeful Assets. I love you more than I can put into words. Rest easy with your beautiful fillies.”
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dakota and her entire family at this time.
