Gracing the cover of the Fashion Issue of GoMag is the ultra-fashionable, AQHA World and Congress Champion, Kent Ray Taylor of Mesa, Arizona. With a horse show career that started more than 30 years ago, Kent has accomplished many impressive firsts in our industry, both in and out of the show pen. Read Taylor’s own words as he describes the evolution of his fashion style dating back to the 1980’s.
My horse was Count McChick and he was amazing! 1985 was my last year of youth and we won the Congress Horsemanship and the Western Riding on this day. That year at the Congress, we won the Horsemanship, Western Riding and Showmanship and I was the first boy to win the All-Around title at the Congress. It was awesome!
About this outfit: The shirt was Burberry, right off the rack with no tailoring. This would change as I got older and wanted my shirts to be more fitted.
Trendsetter: I tried on five shirts that day before I decided to wear this one. I knew I wouldn’t have any time to change clothes between classes and I wanted to look professional. I did not want to look like a youth or like any of the other boys.
