About the Cover

On the cover of the November AQHA World Show issue of GoMag is eight-time AQHA World Champion and five-time Congress Grand Champion Halter Stallion, PF Premo. This six year-old stallion is owned by Jerry Robinson of Bellefontaine, Ohio and is under the guidance of Dewey Smith.

Before retiring “Premo” at last year’s AQHA World Show, he was named the Congress Grand Champion Stallion in both the Amateur and Open divisions at the 50th annual show. At the 2016 AQHA World Show, Premo ended his show career on a high note when he was named the unanimous AQHA Open and Amateur World Champion in the Aged Stallions.

“He is a fabulous, great minded horse,” Smith says about Premo. “There aren’t many stallions that can say they have won the Congress and AQHA World Show that many times.”

PF Premo currently has three foal crops on the ground with a very limited number of foals, his oldest being two-year-olds. His first foal, Obviously Preplanned, was the unanimous 2017 AQHA Select Amateur World Champion with James Henrekin in the Two Year-Old Stallions, and at this year’s Congress, he was Reserve Congress Grand Champion in the Amateur and Open Stallions. One of his other offspring, Romeiro, won the Yearling Amateur Stallions with Dan Fox.

PF Premo has also sired the Grand Champion Halter Stallion at the Breeders’ Halter Futurity the last two years with Obviously Preplanned and Romeiro taking home the wins. Ive Got People is another talented, double-registered yearling stallion, who is a WCHA Futurity Champion, APHA Reserve World Champion and BHF Reserve Champion.

“Premo is siring babies with a lot of uniformity with pretty heads and necks,” Smith told us. “They all have a lot of body to them. He stamps his babies well which is a huge plus. His foals are easy to handle and they all want to be show horses like their father.”

Look out for these babies showing at the AQHA World Show.

Dewey Smith also told us he has partnered with Jerry and built a brand new state-of-art-facility for their breeding operation.

“Jerry has stepped up his game and built a whole new facility specifically for Premo,” Smith states. “It includes a 36 stall barn that’s climate controlled.”

The Smith’s have an open invite for everyone to come and visit them next Spring to pick out a fantastic futurity baby by PF Premo and a few other top halter stallions.
