Kimes Kandids and Results from Gordyville Turkey Circuit

Gordyvillle held their annual Turkey Run Show this past weekend, November 24-26th with almost 3,000 entries. Margo Ball, Jerry Erickson, Richard Glenn Spinks and Steve Heckaman judged the show. The show featured slot classes with added money, Circuit Awards and All Around trophies. There was also a Waisted Away Party to cap off the Thanksgiving feasting, “We are so grateful that our exhibitors and their families choose to spend the holiday weekend with us,” said Mary Hannagan.

The highlight of the show was a collection of Memorial Slot classes each honoring a past member of the AQHA with a special connection to Gordyville. Each class also featured added money of $750. The Green Trail Slot class was up first on Friday night and in memory of Ken Freeman. His daughter, Alyssa Freeman Ricker was on hand to present the award. The class was won by Mason Dorsey and Burn the Invitation.

Next up were the Halter classes. In memory of Betty Boxell, the Grand Champion Gelding was awarded to Corporate Secret. He was shown by Tom Totten and is owned by Jeff Fisher. In memory of Sue King, the Grand Champion Mare was awarded to Cheers for Milan, shown by Chris Arentsen and owned by Dawn Licavoli. Penny King was there to present the award with her father and brother, Gene and Randy King.

Ranch Riding was up next with a Green Slot class in memory of Gordon Hannagan. Denise Holiman and her horse, Areyoureadyforthis, came out on top. Jan Hannagan and her daughters, Mary Hannagan, Patty Frerichs and Jody Quiram were all there to present the award.

Saturday’s show ended with the Waisted Away Party, where each barn hosted a themed party. Exhibitors then went around sampling each other’s food and drinks. The barn with the most votes (money and Gordyville bucks) collected at the end of the night won a free tack stall. The winners were Willow Creek Farm with their delicious Little Italy Feast.

The show concluded with the Western Pleasure and Horsemanship classes on Sunday. The Green Western Pleasure Slot class was in memory of Arlie King. It was won by Wheres My Cowboy and Jennifer Burton for owner Kathy Harper.
