Seventeen year-old, Sarah Finkel and her veteran 18 year-old mount, So So Good, took home their first bronze on Friday afternoon.
The old timer, who is a year older than his youth mount, scored an impressive 226 in the Level 1 Youth 14-18 Trail. Finkel, who is from Walnut Creek, California, told us under the tent in Celeste that she had her highest score ever today in a trail class.
”My warm ups a few days ago were pretty sketchy,” Sarah told us. “But, today he warmed up great and he did amazing. It was exciting to do my personal best and watch the leader board change after my run.”
“Taco”, who was falling asleep in the Ohio sun, seemed unfazed by his win and all the commotion. Unlike most years, the weather at Congress so far has been gorgeous and warm.
Sarah credits Taco and her trainer, David Busick, of Livermore, California on helping her win her first Congress trophy.
“Taco has taught me a lot about Trail and it has been fun to see us improve and grow into a better team. David is the best trainer in the world and he pushes me to be the best I can be.”
As far as future plans, Finkel has verbally committed to riding for the Georgia NCEA equestrian team and plans to be a veterinarian. Taco will also be retired after the Youth World next year.
We congratulate Sarah and Busick Quarter Horses on a job well done.
