Highly Anticipated Congress Issue of GoMag Online Now

Watching the very best horses and exhibitors compete for a title, catching up with lifelong friends, the long days and even longer nights…those are a few of the favorite things that make the top exhibitors, trainers, owners, breeders, vendors and countless other horse enthusiasts return year-after-year to the All American Quarter Horse Congress.  Like Bonnie Sheren, who graces the cover of the Congress issue of GoMag, you never forget your first Congress. And, like Bonnie, many people’s most cherished horse show memory happened in Columbus, Ohio in October.

The Congress is unlike any other horse show and the Congress issue of GoMag, for the ninth year in a row, is our biggest of the year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our many loyal advertisers and wish everyone the very best of luck in their pursuit of trophies, titles and memories.

Bonnie Sheren of Studio City, California is on the cover of the highly-anticipated Congress issue of GoMag. This Select Amateur enjoys showing two of the top horses in the industry: More Radical (Rodney) and Heza Radical Zip (Troy). “Both horses are exceptional,” Sheren states. “In a lot of ways, they are very similar – both are very kind and quiet, easy to be around and, of course, both love their peppermints and treats.”

Sheren discusses her favorite wins with her new horses. “The most amazing win I’ve had on Troy was the Select Trail at Congress last year (pictured right). I showed three horses and had problems with the first two. It was a hard pattern with a diagonal lope. I made it through pretty well and, luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long to find out my score. This year, I was NSBA World Champion on him in the Select Amateur Trail. Both wins were almost surreal for me.”

Sheren adds, “I’m still getting used to Rodney, so I don’t quite have the feel of him yet. I did win the Select Western Riding circuit at the Sun and Surf show this year and I received my very first Top Ten at the Select World with him.”

At the Congress, Bonnie is showing both horses in the Select Trail and the Select and Novice Western Riding. This year will be her fifth time showing in Columbus. “After the first time, I didn’t think I would ever go back because it was so overwhelming. However, it has become one of my favorite shows and I’m looking forward to it. I love the excitement of the Congress.”

Sheren’s trainers, Jason Martin and Charlie Cole, will be showing both horses in the senior classes. Also look out for Sheren’s other horses: Sleeptite, Zip N The Dreams and Al By Myself showing in Ohio.

“I just want to thank my trainers and everyone at Highpoint Performance Horses for everything they have done for me – finding me the perfect horses, giving me the skills and confidence that I need and being there supporting me through the highs and lows.”
