Youth exhibitor, Emma Edwards and her horse, This Is Why Im Here (Jack), ended their youth career in dramatic fashion. Emma and Jack won their first ever Congress Championship in the last class they will ever compete together in the youth division. They scored an impressive 232 in the Youth Western Riding 14-18 to bring home the win.
“My horse was absolutely phenomenal and he was super soft,” Emma told us next to Celeste after her win. “I really couldn’t have asked for a better go to end my youth career. This is my favorite class and I really wanted to be Top 5 and we did just that. It is a great feeling to go out as winners.”
Edwards, who is from Washington, currently attends TCU in Texas and has to get back to school tomorrow morning. “I can’t show the rest of the show because of school. I only got to show in the showmanship and western riding. I have a flight at 6 am, but this was a special win and I’m definitely going to celebrate.”
This was only Edwards’ second time to compete at the Congress and she would like to thank her trainer, Nancy Renfro, her parents and her friends for all their support.
