Angie Watts Schmeck of Newnan, Georgia had a big decision to make this past week while attending the Gold and Gulf Coast shows with her daughter, Erin Mask. Schmeck’s resident trainer, Todd Grant asked her if she would be willing to sell her beloved halter stallion, Inspirado (Pedro), to Scott and Breda Kennedy. Surprisingly, after giving it much consideration, Angie agreed to sell the multiple AQHA World and Congress Champion to the couple.
The gorgeous 2009 bay stallion is by De Renzo and out of the great mare, MBJ Mini Obvious. He was bred by Peter J Cofrancesco, Jr. of Sparta, New Jersey. The five-time AQHA World Champion and four-time Reserve World Champion will stay under the guidance of Todd Grant.
Angie (pictured right with Pedro in Tampa) told us that she will miss her “go to” horse. “It was not an easy decision. He is such a fun and sweet horse and I could always count on him in the show arena. I just decided I wanted to do something different. I’ve won everything I could with him, and it will be exciting to see Breda show him.”
Inspirado’s new owner, Scott Kennedy of Ocala, Florida, told us that buying Pedro wasn’t planned. “I was at the Florida Gulf Coast Circuit and Todd Grant and I started talking, and it just kind of happened out of the blue. My wife has had 13 surgeries over the past few years and she is finally well enough to get back in the show pen. Pedro is the perfect horse for her because he is so kind and quiet, especially for being a stallion.”
Inspirado’s great looks draw people to him, but his friendly and kind disposition makes him a very special stallion.
“He is just a great minded stallion and definitely a good one,” Todd Grant told us on Thursday while driving home to Georgia after attending the Gold and Gulf Coast. “I believe he may be the only stallion to win the World in both the regular halter stallions and performance halter stallion classes. Little kids rode him out of the arena at the Congress after his win. He is that good minded.”
“He is just a good citizen,” Scott said. “He is very structurally correct and sound and we are very excited for the opportunity to own him. I’d like to thank Angie, Todd, and Beth (Dunlap) for making this happen and we look forward to this coming year with him.”
The Kennedy’s plan on making their show debut with Inspirado in Perry, Georgia later this month. Inspirado will stand at Todd Grant’s in Georgia. Please contact Todd for more information at (281) 536-6778 on breeding to this outstanding stallion.
