The end of 2016 brought many significant horse transactions and another very accomplished horse has changed hands in the beginning of 2017. Alexandra Chavez, owner of Chavez Enterprises, LLC, has purchased Chex Me Im Cute from fellow amateur, Bonnie Sheren. “Blondie” was the 2009 AQHA World Champion Junior Trail horse with Bruce Vickery and the 2014 Congress Champion in Senior Trail with Brad Ost.
In 2011, Bonnie Sheren of Studio City, California, purchased the 2004 chestnut mare by Zippos Pine Chex. Sheren showed her in Novice and Select Amateur Trail in California before sending her to continue her open career with Highpoint Performance Horses in Pilot Point, Texas. While with Highpoint, Brad Ost and Blondie were Congress Champions in Senior Trail, NSBA Reserve World Champions in Senior Trail and AQHA High Point Level 2 Senior Trail winners.
Sheren, who owns Heza Radical Zip, Sleeptite, Dun In The Dark, among others, is very happy that Blondie found such a good home.
“When I heard that Alex Chavez and Troy Lehn were going to try Blondie in Florida, I was thrilled,” Sheren told us. “I think she and Alex will be a great fit. Blondie is a great teacher, especially for a novice, so I think Alex can learn and be very successful in the novice. But, since Blondie is so fancy, she can also go on to the amateur and be very competitive.”
While showing in Venice, Florida, Chavez told us that she is very excited about the opportunity to own a great mare like Blondie. “I am happy to be adding trail to my list of events. Blondie is very sweet and she is an amazing trail horse,” she said. “I am excited to add her to my breeding program as well. I plan to breed her this year to my stallion, The Born Legacy. I would like to thank Bonnie Sheren, Jason Martin, Charlie Cole, and Brad Ost, as well as thank Troy Lehn for finding Blondie for me. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
Sheren adds, “Obviously, she will also be a great open horse for Troy. Blondie is a sweet, kind and very gentle mare, and I know Alex and Troy will love her.”
Troy Lehn has already had much success in trail with horses owned by Alex Chavez. In October, Lehn was the Congress Champion in Junior Trail with A Chrome Cookie, who was then owned by Chavez (pictured left). He welcomes the opportunity to add an AQHA World and Congress Champion to their lineup.
“Blondie’s obviously a proven trail horse. I’ve watched her show over the past few years and always loved her,” Lehn told us. “I’m excited that Alex was able to purchase such a great horse to start her trail adventure.”
Brad Ost of Highpoint Performance Horses, who won the Congress with Blondie said, “I hope they enjoy her and have as much success as we did with her. All the best to them!”
We would like to congratulate Alex Chavez on her new horse, and we wish her the best of luck in her new event.
